Initial notes

Start with these short notes and examples. This guide will be expanded over time.

What is a Test Case?

A Test Case is a detailed set of conditions or variables used to determine whether specific functionality satisfies its requirements and works correctly.

It makes a check repeatable by recording preconditions, test data, actions and expected results. After execution, record the actual result and status.

Example · Add a new CRM customer

Test Case ID
TC_CIM_01
Title
Verify adding a new customer
Preconditions
A valid CRM user has permission to add customers. The test customer does not already exist.
Test data
Valid customer details, for example Alex Morgan, alex.morgan@example.com and Example Ltd.

Steps

  1. Log in to the CRM application.
  2. Navigate to the “Add New Customer” page.
  3. Enter valid customer details.
  4. Click “Save”.

Expected result: The new customer is added to the system, and a confirmation message is displayed.

Actual result / Status: Not executed. Record the observed behaviour and pass or fail status when the test runs.
